Frequently Asked Questions Here we have presented the questions asked most to us concerning the Aqua Star models and their usage. If you do not find the answer to your inquiry here, please feel free to use the contact section and we will be most happy to answer your concerns promptly. Who knows? Maybe you’ll find your question listed here afterwards.
How long can I use my Aqua Star scooter?
The Aqua Star scooters use electric servo motors power by typical 12 volt automotive battery and are subject to the capacity of that battery. The typical fully charged battery in use today provides for about 3 hours of usage. For a safety factor we advise a 2.5 hour run time. As battery technology improves so will the run time. Also please note that the run time is also determined by the air supply. The compressed air tank onboard provide for 45 minutes of air time.
Can my scooter flip over?
No. All Aqua Star scooters were purposely design to provide positive buoyancy and upright orientation.
How do I operate my scooter?
Unlike other similar systems the Aqua Star models have two motors to control the movement. One motor for forward control and a second for vertical control. Our competitors have one with no powered vertical control.
Do you have safety systems?
Should the electric system fail, we have a backup system built in with the compress air tank that can be utilized to quickly bring the unit and you to the surface (we wouldn’t want to lose you just yet).
I’ve seen other scooters with a bubble helmet but you use a flat diver’s style face plate, why?
In designing our models we found that the bubble helmets have a distorted view of your surroundings and they have a tendency to fog up. Our design purposely gives a better view and we built in an anti-fog system to keep visibility clear. Plus our unique helmet design in much more natural to surface conditions, easier to move around in, and on the AS2 model even provides enough comfort that you enjoy a drink while exploring (we only recommend soft drinks though).
How far down can I go with my Aqua Star?
For people with little or no diving experience we recommend a depth not to exceed 12 feet. Both scooters are built to far exceed that and can operate at depths even greater than 40 feet. But that would require more advanced diving knowledge and experience. (If you have that knowledge and capability and follow prudent diving practices – go for it!)
Do Aqua Star Scooters have additional safety measures?
Aqua Star Scooters are equipped with 2 safety hook connections that can be used for position and distance limitation control. For distance control the scooter is tethered to the surface vessel and for position control a measured length buoy is attached allowing your position and depth to be monitored by the surface vessel. (We recommend you always use a safety length rope attached to a red buoy and maintain observance by the surface vessel – we wouldn’t want you to end up on another continent).
Does the Aqua Star scooter come with a warranty?
All models have a 12 month warranty which is stipulated in the owner’s packet.
What should I be aware of when operating my scooter?
Before driving your scooter know the waters you are in. Be aware of sea currents and the sea floor typography (we wouldn’t want you driving your scooter into rocks or damaging coral reefs – it is your new toy!).
Where are Aqua Star scooters built?
The structure of the models are manufactured in Russia. The operating components have been sourced to provide the very best performance and longevity. For instance the electric servo motors that provide the power are manufactured in the U.S. The air supply systems are manufactured by the renowned diving company: Aqua Lung (France). So you see each model consists of intricate design using the best components (when you are under the sea only the best will do!).
